How do adjustable work benches operate?

The unit has footswitches, located on either end, that control the raising and lowering of the platform. A linear actuator operates the system with standard electrical power. There is no need to oil the unit, so there is no risk of messy spills happening at the worst possible times.

What is the height range of the platform?
The workbench has a raised height of 48 inches and a lowered platform height of 24 inches.
The lift bench model has a slightly lower elevation of 17 ¾ inches and lowered height of 3 ½ inches.

What applications are the workbench model designed for?
Yes. The workbench is intended for packaging materials, assembling items, and testing equipment. It has a larger platform than the lift bench for this reason. The platform top is plastic laminate on one side and non-slip plastic on the other. Other materials such as wood, stainless steel, or UHMW can be substituted for the plastic insert if necessary.

Commercial outdoor cedar furniture can be made out of just about any wood or even plastic. So why choose cedar? Firstly, cedar is a unsurprisingly attractive wood for many reasons, as well as being extremely long-lasting and adaptable, which is why it is used to create everything from siding to decks to furniture and even roofing shingles. The natural preservative oils and characteristic smell of cedar also make it naturally impervious to insect attacks, weather damage, and decay resistant.

Cedar tends to come with a unusual gold, silver or tan color, but will fade to a bleached silver color when out in the open to the elements, and stay that way for the next few decades. Cedar outdoor furniture is easy to clean which keeps the upkeep involved to minimum. Cedar also has a high strength to weight ratio, meaning that while it is very sturdy and flexible, its easy to move around because cedar is so light. Even though cedar is a lightweight wood you will not be sacrificing strength. It is 85% the strength of Oak!

Cedar outdoor furniture in addition has a hard to believe thermal co-efficient. That means that the little tiny "air pockets" between the cells of the wood end up acting as an insulator when cedar wood is dry. If it is hot outside, for example, cedar will remain at a lower temperature than most other materials that conduct heat with more effectiveness. The outcome is a cooler piece of cedar furniture to sit on.

Cedar outdoor furniture naturally tries to match its moisture content to that of the air around it. This is very important because while other harder, denser woods will tend to split or go out of shape from outdoor exposure, outdoor furniture made of cedar tends not to crack or warp. If you live in an area where humidity levels can vary wildly between seasons, cedar is a must for you. Nevertheless, cedar does not swell or contract very much when it is absorbing or evaporating moisture. Also cedar has a very low flame-spreading ratio and is low on smoke output. This means that it doesn't spread fire as fast nor produce as much smoke as some other types of wood.

Finally, cedar is very decay and weather resistant. If you leave cedar furniture outside you have the choice of either staining it every year to maintain its fresh new look, or allowing it to age gracefully into a beautiful silvery gray color. If you choose to leave cedar outside through all of the seasons, every day, every month, every year, we highly recommend treating it to protect the cedar furniture properly and greatly extend its natural life. Outdoor cedar furniture is resistant to decay but is not unyielding to it. No wood is impervious to natural aging. Staining cedar just gives it an extra toughness edge against constant contact with the ground.

Fixed ladders are ladders that are designed to permanently attach to a structure and provide vertical access to walls, decks, shelves, docks, roofs, or work platforms.

Some are basic in design, with hand rails for support and fasteners of various kinds that attach them to building or wall edifices. Others feature specialized attachment features that allow them to attach to loading docks. Still others are built with circular rungs and safety cages at the top so workers can do their jobs without the risk of slipping and falling.

Unlike rolling ladders which are designed to be moved around, fixed ladders are meant to be attached to a building or a piece of equipment.

The most common places where they are used is outside of industrial buildings. They are frequently used in construction work. Shipping and receiving operations also use these ladders to move products to and from docking areas. Many maintenance operations also use them to give rooftop access to workers who need to repair leaks in the ceiling, check ventilation equipment, conduct electrical repairs, or to perform other routine tasks.

Regardless of the specific application for which a fixed ladder is used, there are OSHA regulations that require the use of standoff platforms set at regular intervals.

A standoff platform is a stationary platform that is connected to the ladder at intervals of 30 feet. This allows workers who are descending the ladder to exit safely onto a firm, steady surface. Standoff platforms are manufactured with both left entrances and right entrances, depending on environment, location, and application.

Selecting a fixed ladder type should be based upon the type of industry you work in, the number of workers who will be using it, and, most importantly, the height to which your employees will be climbing.

If your employees are working at heights of less than 20 feet, you only need a standard ladder design. This ladder is a single, one-piece welded unit that looks like any other ladder, only it has fasteners that affix it permanently to the desired surface. If you need something a little more maneuverable, consider a model with walk-thru handles.

If you are running shipping and receiving operations, you can get a specialty fixed ladder made just for your docking area.

These ladders feature one-piece welded assemblies and are designed to give safe access to docks and mezzanines. Some are walk-thru models with 42 inch high handrails and 24 inch wide steps. Another side step model features step rungs with 4 additional hand rungs and 18 inch wide steps.

SERIES C Fixed Ladders Dock ladders are very tough. They are constructed out of 1 ¼ inch tubing and ¾ inch anti-slip corrugated rungs.

For applications that require getting workers safely to heights between 10 and 30 feet, the safest fixed ladder design is that with a safety cage at the top.

These safety cage ladders are used for hatch-way and side step landing access. Models with walk-thru hand rails are also available. When choosing a model, select one where the bottom of the cage is 7 inches to 8 inches above the floor and extends 42 inches above the landing surface.

Steel Rolling Ladders come in various models that offer anywhere from 3 to 19 steps.

The standard depth of each step is 7 inches, with each composed of Performa tread to provide slip resistance. Optional metal mesh or strut grip can also be ordered for work in labor intensive industrial environments. Applied weight locks the rollers and immobilizes the ladder while in use. Top steps on various models range from 10 inches to 30 inches, depending on the model. All models have a 50 degree climbing angle that allows for descent facing forward.

This allows the worker to pass from the cage across the platform floor straight onto the roof without risk of tripping or falling.

Fixed roof ladders are not meant to be moved around once they are attached to a structure.

They are placed in key locations where workers can quickly climb to the roof to perform any number of tasks. Repair men use them to conduct electrical circuit repair. Workers repair leaks in ceilings after storms. Ventilation checks are conducted on a routine basis. Any machines located on the roof are also maintained and repaired.

Regardless of the specific application for which a fixed ladder is used, specific OSHA regulations require the use of standoff platforms set at regular intervals.

If the ladder spans a distance of more than 30 feet, regulations specify that there must be a standoff platform attached to it. When workers exit the ladder, they can step onto a firm and a stable surface. A standoff platform is a stationary platform that is connected to the ladder at intervals of 30 feet. Companies can purchase standoff platforms with both left entrances and right entrances, depending on environment, location, and application.

The type of ladder used depends on the type of industry you are in and the type of structure your workers are climbing onto. It also depends on how far up they have to climb.

When working at heights of less than 20 feet, a standard design is sufficient. This ladder features a single, one-piece welded construction with fasteners that affix it to a vertical surface. For more maneuverability, you may need a ladder with walk-thru handles.

If you are working in a warehouse that requires mezzanine access, you can get a specialty roof ladder made for this purpose.

A typical custom ladder features a one-piece welded assembly designed to give safe access to mezzanines. Many are walk-thru models with 42 inch high handrails and 24 inch wide steps. Other side step model features have rungs with 4 additional hand rungs and 18 inch wide steps.

When safety is paramount at heights between 10 and 30 feet, the safest roof ladder design is one with a safety cage at the top.

These ladders feature hatch-way and side step landing access. You can also get ladders with walk-thru hand rails. When selecting a model, choose a ladder where the bottom of the cage is 7 inches to 8 inches above the floor. Also, consult with your material handling vendor and double check that it extends 42 inches above the landing surface.

Stock picker platforms feature a number of attributes that make them well worth your investment.

To begin with, each features an expanded mesh rear panel that allows workers a 360 degree view, but also reduces the possibility of accidental contact with the fork truck.

There are two types of platforms currently available through Vision Masters: The Workmaster and The Stockmaster.

Workmaster

This is the larger platform that features a wide platform designed to accommodate both stocking and maintenance functions. Many electricians and repair workers use it to get to higher elevations and perform their work faster. Several platform sizes are available that give workers plenty of leg room and room for tools and equipment. Other features include:

· A dual action gate swings inward or outward for easy access to the work platform.

· Safety is provided by strong 2 ¾ inch O.D. guardrails with mid rails.

· The platform itself is large, with a skid resistant surface. A four inch toe board keeps tools and equipment from falling off the platform.

· Unit fastens to fork truck with a tine lock and a tine chain that secure it in place.

· Full length tine sleeves adapt to almost all fork lift trucks.

Stockmaster

This is a narrower platform designed to use in stock selection and inventory control in narrow aisles and small warehouse spaces. Designed to get the stock handler and the pallet to overhead shelves safely and efficiently, it features the same basic structural and material construction as the Workmaster. Other features include:

· 6 foot swivel tail protection lanyard mounts overhead to an 84 inch back guard to maintain ANSI compliance.

Horizontal Tube Caddy

For repair work, this is an ideal way to store light bulbs. The horizontal caddy slides onto the side rails of the Workmaster and stores 4 foot and 8 foot fluorescent light bulbs. The caddy has a two-tray design that separates old bulbs from new bulbs.

Vertical Tube Caddy

This accessory performs the same function as its horizontal equivalent, only its vertical design preserves more valuable platform space for tools, supplies, and equipment.

Overhead Guard

When using a stock picker platform in an environment with lots of falling debris, this guard protects workers from falling objects. The guard rises a total of 80 inches from the platform deck to the top of the guard.
