With the increase in cycling, many schools, shopping centers, public facilities, and companies have realized just how important it is to set aside a special area for bike racks. Because bicycles are easily stolen, cyclists must secure their bikes to an immobile anchor point in order to keep them secure. The absence of a bike storage rack means that cyclists have to improvise with columns, posts, trees, or bench legs. This kind of improvising can lead to property damage, damage to the bikes themselves, and to possible collisions with other vehicles.
Bicycle storage racks offer facilities a much more efficient and practical way of accommodating the increasing number of bikes that visit their property daily. VisionMasters has many different types of bike storage racks that can be installed into the concrete of a dedicated section of the parking lot, onto the sidewalk, or on a rotunda. We have both surface mounting options and concrete mounting options available to accommodate the wide range of installation requirements frequently encountered by our many municipal, corporate, and academic clients.
Specific features of our bike racks make it possible to accommodate the increase in bicycle traffic without overcrowding the facility. It is simply a matter of looking at available bike storage space and choosing the right model to make the best use of that space. There are models based on a linear design that accommodate a large number of bikes parked on both sides of the rack. Just one of these racks, by itself, can secure up to 12 bicycles. These larger models can also be ganged together to double, or even triple, storage size. This is the best option for a facility with a long sidewalk area, or a long, narrow portion of a parking lot that is set apart from vehicle traffic and currently not being used.
Many facilities, however, have only a small amount of space to devote to bike storage racks. Many municipal buildings and schools, for example, have only a small outdoor rotunda available to bicycle parking. For these areas, we would recommend one of our smaller bike racks designed to hold a single bicycle on either side. The advantage that this design offers is the ability for contractors to install racks individually in a circle, or connected together in a short, linear run that fits within the allotted space.
For facilities that are already overcrowded, we recommend our bollard style bicycle storage rack. This single post is fitted with four connectors. Several racks of this type can be installed near benches or picnic tables without overcrowding the area and in plain sight of pedestrians and security cameras.
