Material Handling Warehouse Equipment for Coil Handling and Roll Handling Applications
VisionMasters carries a number of material handling equipment products that are designed specifically for coil handling and roll handling. These devices are engineered for a wide range of lifting, transporting, and positioning tasks associated with large rolls and heavy coils. LS Style Coil Cares are typically used for smaller diameter coils. L Cam Style Coil Cars are for heavier coil loads of up to 20 tons.
Extremely large and heavy coils weighing up to 70 tons typically require Opposed Cylinder Style Coil Cars. Roll Upenders are used for loading and transporting rolls, and tilt down tables help workers load and unload rolls from processing machines.
The LS style Coil Car uses a direct thrust lift table that provides considerable vertical lift. It is ideal for smaller loads.
The L Cam style coil car was the original design for coil handling applications that involve midrange weight coils of up to 20 pounds. The L cam lift table design features an extremely low profile. This design has proven reliable and highly efficient after 45 years of continuous industry use.
Opposed Cylinder Style Coil Cars are used for the heavy duty coil handling operations that are routine in mills, process lines, and other heavy duty industrial environments. The opposed cylinder design is built around cylinders on either side of a pivot point. The cylinder to one side of the pivot point pushes up while the cylinder on the other side pushes down. This feature offers the advantage of smooth, continuous operation with minimum wear on the pivot even when the machine is loaded to full capacity.
Roll handling can be done with either Roll Upenders or Tilt Down Tables.
Roll Upenders are dedicated tilting platforms that that allow workers to change the orientation of coils and rolls. Typical applications involve switching “eye to the horizon” to “eye to the sky” without damage to the roll or injury to workers.
Tilt Down Tables are used for roll handling applications that involve the loading or unloading of processing machines. They can be operated by a single worker as standalone devices. They can also be used in conjunction with transfer carts and shaft pullers.
